Trivia Night Surpassed Its Fundraising Goal!

Wow, what a night we had last Thursday evening. We had an ambitious goal to raise $5204 (a nod to our Senate Bill number) and with your help, we blew that amount right out of the water. We raised over…

$7800!

This was exactly the kind of campaign jumpstart we were dreaming of. We’re both humbled and energized to begin.

#ForceTheVote for Medicare For All

Statewide Healthcare Organization Requests Members of Congress to #ForceTheVote

December 30, 2020 With respect to Members of Congress who support Medicare for All, yet hesitate to #ForceTheVote, please know that Whole Washington supports the effort and encourages you to fight as we do – by any means at your disposal. There is no better time than now, during a pandemic and an economic crisis, and we encourage you to seize the moment to force the vote on Medicare for All. Fifteen million Americans have lost their health insurance just when a functioning public health system is critical for recovery. We support our U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s H.R. 1384 and the #ForceTheVote effort, with further suggestions.

Just as Canada rolled out their national health care, province by province, we see a likely path here, going state by state until we transform nationally to a single-payer healthcare plan. Therefore, we back the suggestions listed in Five Things House Progressives Can Do to Advance Medicare for All by David Sirota, with a strong emphasis on #2: Schedule a vote on existing legislation to let states create single-payer health care systems. While not necessary to implement the Whole Washington Health Trust,  U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna’s H.R. 5010 would greatly assist our effort and all states’ efforts with the State-Based Universal Health Care Act

As a grassroots organization, we’re fighting for universal healthcare on all fronts and at all levels. “Only when we have achieved an overwhelming mass of Americans tired of being trodden upon by the 1%, will we finally affect positive change that benefits the governed,” Registered Nurse and Whole Washington Chair, Kathryn Lewandowsky.

We encourage Washingtonians to

  1. Contact their congressional representatives in support of #ForceTheVote
  2. Visit our website to pledge your signature, donate, and sign up to support a coming Initiative to the Legislature if, during this global pandemic, our elected officials fail us.
