SUMMARY:No Cuts - Raise Revenue Rally with Health Care is a Human Right - WA
DESCRIPTION:We\, the Health Care Is a Human Right WA coalition\, made up of 40 organizations\, are united in our demand: No cuts to essential services and no balancing of the budget on the backs of the vulnerable. We are committed to ensuring that health care is a fundamental right\, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy. The ongoing budget cuts and delays in achieving universal coverage are harming our community.\nImpact of Cuts. \nThe federal cuts have already begun to hit hard. Many of Washington’s programs\, such as Medicaid\, cancer screenings\, and other vital services\, are funded by the federal government. As these programs face significant reductions or potential loss\, we need to strengthen our state’s ability to fund and sustain these services independently. We cannot afford to rely on a federal government that continues to prioritize the wealthy over the needs of its citizens. \nIncreasing Revenue\nWashington needs to support itself and build a sustainable\, equitable future. This includes revisiting tax breaks for big businesses and ensuring that those who can afford to contribute more do so\, so that the burden of essential services does not fall solely on the poor and middle class. \nFeatured Speakers include: \n\nPatty Kuderer Washington’s Insurance Commissioner\, will speak to the critical need for universal health coverage\, highlight the importance of achieving single-payer uhc reform at the state level\, how we can get there\, how advocates can support that goal\, and the impact of the threatened Federal Medicaid cuts on our reform efforts in WA.\nVicki Lowe\, Executive Director of the American Indian Health Commission of WA. The cuts to both federal and state budgets disproportionately harm Native Americans who already face significant healthcare challenges. Dismantling of federal agencies.\n\nThese communities must not be further neglected in the push for budgetary cuts. There will be time at the end of the hour for attendees to share their stories. Join us! \nSpread the word:

SUMMARY:We Won't Go Back!
DESCRIPTION:Join us in tabling in Everett in collaboration with Snohomish County Indivisible! You can also participate in the march after the rally.  The goal for this event is to amplify the national Women’s March to the White House (Washington\, DC)and push Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Advocacy work during the last days of this election cycle! Currently there is no event scheduled for Seattle! So this Snohomish County event is critical to our region and our voices! \nDescription of this event: a rally and march in solidarity with participants in the Women’s March on the White House (in Washington\, DC).  We express our deep appreciation for the steadfast support of our elected officials in Washington state for women’s reproductive rights.  We urge our congressional representatives to advocate for expanded access to reproductive health services\, including abortion care\, birth control\, and medication abortion nationwide.  Additionally\, we call on our elected officials to actively oppose discriminatory laws and bans that undermine women’s rights and hinder progress.  Furthermore\, we are urging Congress to take immediate action to reform the judicial branch to address the challenges within our outdated and compromised judicial system before the situation deteriorates further. \nWe Won’t Go Back – Event details:\nDate:    Saturday November 2\, 2024 \nTime:   Noon-1pm Social Time with Tabling and Sign Making \n1:00-3:00 pm (speakers from 1:00 to 2:15+/-\, march begins after last speaker) \nLocation:  Snohomish County Campus Plaza & Amphitheater\, 3000 Rockefeller Avenue\, Everett 98201 \nFrom the National Women’s March Event:  Had enough people been ready for the fight for our families\, our freedoms\, and our futures in 2016\, Donald Trump would have never been elected. We cannot repeat the mistakes of the past. On November 2nd\, thousands of feminists will mobilize across the nation to show our collective power. The stakes are clear: it’s freedom vs. fascism. This November\, we must deliver a decisive defeat to those who threaten our rights\, freedoms\, and futures. Added bonus: we’re electing the first woman president of the United States of America. \nSpread the word:

SUMMARY:Heal Medicare Rally / "Die-In"
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, September 30\, 2024\, Medicare supporters around the country will gather for local actions focused on reclaiming Medicare from profit-hungry corporate health insurers. We will struggle to get to a national single-payer healthcare system if the insurance companies continue to gobble up our Medicare Trust – and they know it.\n\nWhole Washington is collaborating with PNHP-WA to plan a Die-In (fun!). Monday Sept 30th at lunch time 1130-130pm at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building\, 915 2nd Ave.\, Seattle\, WA.\n\nThe Jackson Federal Building houses several offices\, including those of our Federal elected representatives and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We will be sending a message that people are dying as a direct result of these ongoing health policy choices and they MUST put patients over profits and save Medicare.\n\nMore information regarding PNHP Heal Medicare day of action can be found here:\nhttps://healmedicare.org/sept-30-day-of-action-to-reclaim-medicare/\n\nReady to take action today? You can sign PNHP’s petition demanding Congress and President Biden protect Medicare beneficiaries by cracking down on insurance company abuses\, and by significantly improving the traditional\, public Medicare program.\n\nhttps://healmedicare.org/sign-our-petition/\nSpread the word:

SUMMARY:Town Hall - Vancouver (with Clark County League of Women Voters)
DESCRIPTION:Join Whole Washington and the Clark County League of Women Voters for a community conversation about the woes of our current for-profit system and how establishing the Washington Health Trust could be a real solution for Washington state. Saving lives and saving money \nWe are creating spaces for open dialogue about our healthcare system.  In some way\, we’re all too familiar with the failures of the fragmented\, for-profit system that we have today.  Failures like: \n\ninadequate staffing\nhospital closures\nchallenges with navigating insurance coverage\ndenials\, networks\, and per-authorizations\nsurprise bills and medical debt\n\nWe know we can do better. By establishing the Washington Health Trust and designing a publicly funded\, nonprofit system\, we can offer comprehensive care to all Washington State residents.  Patients\, providers\, unions\, small businesses\, our entire community will benefit. When we disconnect healthcare from employment\, we live longer and save money. \nWhole Washington organizers will present about 20 minutes worth of material and then move into Q & A. Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours! We’ll highlight how the Washington Health Trust can resolve many existing issues and get us on track to a brighter future. \nThese town halls are non-partisan\, educational events\, open to everyone. Please join us and let’s increase our people power! Together\, we can make Universal Healthcare a reality. \nWe will be having a simultaneous online Town Hall for this event. If you would like to attend this event virtually please RSVP below. \n \n\nSpread the word:

SUMMARY:SEATTLE Care Not Cops
DESCRIPTION:Whole Washington will have a table at this event. Details from the Organizing Group: Labor for Black Lives below. \n \nTwo years ago\, MLK Labor Council became independent of the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild\, allowing them to stand for all workers\, including those victimized by police violence & killings. On May 18th\, some labor leaders want to undo this victory of the 2020 uprising for black lives.\nJoin rank-and-file workers & union members coming together to say “Keep SPOG Out!”\nWe’ll have:\n– rank-and-file speakers\n– Potluck dinner\n– Labor solidarity movie screening\nPolice protect private property of the rich\, and keep black and brown labor hyper-exploited. Policing & incarceration has never and will never reduce crime.\nHear from fellow workers about a vision of public safety that’s rooted in having basic needs met like housing\, food\, education\, & transit.\nSign the petition and join us in person to show the MLK Labor Council that rank-and-file workers stand together in solidarity to keep SPOG out. All workers & students are welcome.\nPetition: https://forms.gle/HvSF2xs1phPtd2Hx5\nSpread the word:
