DESCRIPTION:Whole Washington is excited to be coming to Elma! We have been visiting every corner of the state to create spaces for open dialog about the failures of our current for-profit healthcare system\, to solicit stories from those impacted by the lack of adequate nurse staffing\, hospital and provider closures\, challenges of navigating insurance coverage and denials\, or surprise bills and financial debt. This is a non-partisan\, educational event – open to the public. Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours. We also plan to provide highlights regarding how the Washington Health Trust will resolve or begin to resolve your issues. and answer your questions. \nWe believe we can do better by establishing the Washington Health Trust and designing a nonprofit system that works for patients and providers\, without the corrupting influence of for-profit insurance companies. We believe unions\, small businesses and our communities will benefit greatly by disconnecting healthcare from employment and ensuring healthy families\, longer and more productive lives and a healthy workforce. \nThis is an in person event. Whole Washington Town Hall will occur at/after a community resource fair – details of the day: \nSunday\, Dec 8\, 1-3pm \nElma TRL Community Room \n119 N. 1st Street Elma\, WA 98541 \nThe resource fair will happen from 1-1:45 in the meeting room. SUMMARY:2025 Legislative Opening Day Kick Off
DESCRIPTION:Calling all Whole Washington Volunteers!  You are invited to join our Opening Day Legislative Kick Off Event!  Monday January 13th\, 2025! It’s the opening day of our Washington Legislative Session.  We reserved a room at the Lacey Library from 10AM-12PM (closest I could find with an available room). We can coordinate who can visit which Reps and Senators Offices.  We’ll drop them by a Policy Brief\, answer questions from LA’s\, and remind their LA to encourage the Rep. or Sen. to sign on as a cosponsor to their respective bills. They have 24 hours to do that after opening day.  We’ll meet again at 4 PM at The Owl’s Nest for coffee and to have a check-in/debrief.  Someone mentioned it might be a good time to meet briefly with Patty Kurderer at the Office of the Insurance Commissioner which I think is a great idea!  The electeds will have a busy day so we won’t plan in interfering with their work.  There are like 150 of them so it would be great to have 4-5 teams of 3-4 people.  Stay tuned for some carpool options. \nPlease RSVP below: \n \n\nSpread the word:

We will introduce organizing and research in your community using Slack and other tools in your county channel.  All volunteers will find their path to a happy and effective volunteer experience. \nThe facilitator is Meike Weyrauch\, trained by Midwest Academy for Social Change and on the job as a full-time community organizer for five years before applying her organizing acumen in the Sierra Club Membership Department\, Northern California Planned Parenthood\, Audubon Membership\, and Fundraising\, and later in soliciting leadership gifts. Volunteer teams were always a part of Meike’s success\, even in her later fundraising years\, during which time she generated $55 million for non-profits. Now retired\, she passionately volunteers herself to bring universal healthcare with a single-payer to Washington State.
