SUMMARY:Bellingham Indivisible Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Whole Washington is coming to Bellingham Indivisible to request your assistance with organizing Universal Healthcare Town halls around the state.  We plan to visit every corner of the state to create spaces for open dialog about the failures of the current for-profit system\, to solicit stories from those impacted by the lack of adequate nurse staffing\, hospital and provider closures\, challenges of navigating insurance coverage and denials\, or surprise bills and financial debt. Town halls will be non-partisan\, educational events – open to the public.We plan to schedule both virtual and in-person events\, but we are not planning to take on the challenge of a hybrid event unless those we are collaborating with have the necessary skill set and equipment and are willing to take responsibility for making it work. \nWe are currently preparing materials to facilitate a series of hour-long town halls as a community conversation. We plan to present about 20 minutes of content then move to a series of open-ended questions.  Everyone has a story and we believe if we can get folks connected\, truly engaged\, we can get them activated. \nFor efficiency and efficacy we will be scheduling events in regional clusters. For in-person events\, the goal is to arrive early\, make sure the area has posters up in the community\, and do some sign-waving and flyers advertising the town hall event. We plan to host volunteer orientation events immediately before and immediately after each town hall – whether in person or virtual. \nWe believe we can do better by establishing the Washington Health Trust and designing a nonprofit system that works for patients and providers\, without the corrupting influence of for-profit insurance companies.We believe unions and small businesses will benefit greatly by disconnecting healthcare from employment and ensuring a healthy workforce.  We know that it will take a committed collaboration with groups and individuals around the state and want to help facilitate that collaboration.\n7-8:30 pm in the basement of the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship at 1207 Ellsworth St. \nPlease RSVP below. \n \n\nSpread the word:

DESCRIPTION:Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and RIP Medical Debt are teaming up with Whole Washington!  We are visiting every corner of the state to create spaces for open dialog about the failures of the current for-profit system\, to solicit stories from those impacted by the lack of adequate nurse staffing\, hospital and provider closures\, challenges of navigating insurance coverage and denials\, or surprise bills and financial debt. This is a non-partisan\, educational event – open to the public.  WPSR will be sharing their Demand Access program\, RIP Medical Debt wants to raise $10\,000 to buy back 1 million dollars in medical debt from Washingtonians. And Whole Washington will be present to discuss our  Washington Health Trust.  We’ll end with Q & A from you\, the audience.  Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours. \nWe believe we can do better by establishing the Washington Health Trust and designing a nonprofit system that works for patients and providers\, without the corrupting influence of for-profit insurance companies. Given Unkitawa’s extensive experience in protecting and healing the Earth for the benefit of all communities\, especially Native People. \nTabling will begin promptly at 9 am\, with tables and two chairs provided for each group. The venue will open at 7 am to facilitate setup\, ensuring smooth preparations before the official commencement at 9 am.
