DESCRIPTION:Whole Washington holds a volunteer retreat every 6 months. These events have supported building\, communicating\, and implementing our strategic plan to win state-based universal single-payer healthcare here in Washington. By bill or by ballot. \nThis October\, we are taking our retreat to SW Washington for the first time. We will be meeting at Loowit Brewing – Downtown Pub in their meeting space. Doors open at 11. Event will start at 11:15/11:30 and run until 4:30. This event is free and open to past\, current\, and future volunteers. Bring a fellow activist or co-conspirator. 🙂 Whole Washington will be providing a non-alcoholic beverage service and some appetizers. Feel free to purchase lunch from the pub menu. \nVancouver and the 49th LD are becoming more and more important in the healthcare justice movement in Washington. Look for other/additional events in the Vancouver area in October on our website calendar. \nIt is critical that we organize in every community. Donations accepted via www.wholewashington.org \nAbout the film: \nHealing US –  Narrated by Lady Liberty (Susan Sarandon)\, Healing Us stands as the final case for American healthcare to be free and accessible to all—through a single-payer system.\nAfter a deadly virus\, an international social revolution\, an insurrection of our capital\, and the beginning of the collapse of our two-party system\, are we finally ready for something new? Something better?\n68\,000+ Americans will die this year due to lack of adequate healthcare and 500\,000+ families will file for bankruptcy due to medical expenses. These numbers only represent a fraction of the trauma that millions of people experience everyday in the American for-profit healthcare industry. Yet numerous polls have shown that over 70% of Americans support switching to a universal healthcare system. \nUsing an all-star lineup of heavy-hitters in the healthcare movement\, Healing US walks through all key points of the arguments in favor of a universal\, single-payer healthcare system. \nHealing US is a rallying cry to the American people. We are reclaiming control of our hearts and bodies. We are redefining what it means to be American.
