Slack is Whole Washington's "central nervous system" and allows our organizers to collaborate across mountain ranges and islands on their own schedule. It's the best way to stay connected.
To join please sign our Code of Conduct below and click the invite link on the confirmation page. We ask that you do not share the link and instead direct folks to www.wholewashington.org/slack.
If you've already joined and just need a link to the workspace you can find it at wholewashington.slack.com.
Code of Conduct & Slack Invitation
Whole Washington strives to elevate itself above the inefficient, unfocused, and mean-spirited status quo of today's politics and as such has defined a Code of Conduct that applies explicitly within Whole Washington spaces, both physical and digital, to all staff, volunteers, and surrogates - but also is requested of all supporters who wish to publicly advocate for Whole Washington, its initiative, and/or its policy agenda. While Whole Washington cannot control the behavior of every person online and in public, we can do our best to set high expectations and a good example.
After signing you'll be given an invite link to our Slack on the confirmation page.
1. We are policy driven and solutions oriented
2. We are committed to nonviolent political action
3. We value electoralism, direct action, and direct democracy
4. Our criticisms are political and primarily systemic - we are uninterested in criticizing others on a personal basis
5. We strive to hold power to account and to never punch down
6. We strive to campaign for our policy agenda, in all forms, rather than against the policy agenda of others
7. We organize on a foundation of shared political interests as opposed to ideological conformity or partisan alignment
8. Debate, disagreement, and compromise are welcome and encouraged as long as they remain in good faith
9. It is okay to be wrong in this community
10. It is okay for others to be wrong or have a different opinion and you may not attack them for disagreeing
11. Communication between us (internally) and with the outside world (externally) must be rooted in respect, professionalism, and kindness. This includes all communication, whether verbal or written, on all mediums (email, phone, text, social media, etc.).
12. All volunteers, campaign staff, and members of the board are expected to treat each other with mutual respect and work collaboratively.
13. Attacking the motivations, intentions, or integrity of others is not a good faith disagreement
14. No yelling at others including by typing in ALL CAPS
15. No hate speech or racial slurs
16. You may not be in the group under a false identity
17. No doxxing
18. Conversations are considered private to the group unless consent to share outside of the community is given
Remember that this Code of Conduct applies equally to you as it does to everyone else in our organizing spaces - if you experience or witness examples of failure to adhere to it then please feel empowered to report what you see to grievances@wholewashington.org.
Regardless of your role, we represent Whole Washington. If you cannot maintain an appropriate level of respect, professionalism, and kindness you may be asked to meet with Whole Washington Leadership and/or be asked to step away from the organization.
Verbal or physical violence, sexual misconduct, bigotry, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. Each constitutes grounds for immediate dismissal from all duties and Whole Washington spaces, both physical and digital.
If you understand and agree to this Code of Conduct then we are delighted to have you in our organizing community! Welcome aboard.
