We call on all candidates and elected politicians to refuse corporate healthcare contributions. This simple pledge allows the universal healthcare movement to triumph over money in politics and champion public servants we can trust.
The pledge
"CEOs and lobbyists for Big Pharma, corporate insurers, and private hospitals have formed a front group called Partnership for America’s Healthcare Future that wants to exploit our health care system to make money off of keeping us sick.
I pledge to put patients over profits and not take contributions over $200 from the executives, lobbyists, and PACs affiliated with the corporate health care industry, including private insurers, pharma corporations, and private hospitals who are organizing to take over our health care system."
Activists: How to help
Use the ActionNetwork form below to ask your state and federal legislators to take the pledge, those who have already taken the pledge will not be targeted. You are encouraged to ask candidates and city/county councilmembers to take the pledge as well but you'll have to reach out to them manually (instructions further below).
You can also ask for a pledge in person! In person solicitations are often the fastest and most successful. Follow the instructions carefully:
- Print out the paper pledge form
- Identify who you are asking, verify they haven't taken the pledge already
- Ask the candidate or elected official to sign the form
- Get a photo of them holding the signed form
- Email the photo to info@patientsoverprofits.org
- The pledge is not complete until the photo verification has been sent in
- It's ideal to cc the candidate/elected on the email
- Check patientsoverprofits.org/signees for their name to be added (may take a few weeks)
