Town Hall – Olympia (with Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and RIP Medical Debt)

April 25 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free
Medical Debt is the leading cause of Bankruptcy. 40,000 Americans die each year to due to lack of health insurance. Bring your story and join us!

Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and RIP Medical Debt are teaming up with Whole Washington!  We are visiting every corner of the state to create spaces for open dialog about the failures of the current for-profit system, to solicit stories from those impacted by the lack of adequate nurse staffing, hospital and provider closures, challenges of navigating insurance coverage and denials, or surprise bills and financial debt. This is a non-partisan, educational event – open to the public.  WPSR will be sharing their Demand Access program, RIP Medical Debt wants to raise $10,000 to buy back 1 million dollars in medical debt from Washingtonians. And Whole Washington will be present to discuss our  Washington Health Trust.  We’ll end with Q & A from you, the audience.  Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours.

We believe we can do better by establishing the Washington Health Trust and designing a nonprofit system that works for patients and providers, without the corrupting influence of for-profit insurance companies. We believe unions, small businesses and our communities will benefit greatly by disconnecting healthcare from employment and ensuring healthy families, Longer and more productive lives and a healthy workforce.
